Yes, that is right! Phoenix has SNOW... so do a lot of other places that normally DON'T get much or anything at all.
Scottsdale had snow yesterday evening. It started coming down around 4 pm in the afternoon, according to the news. (Scottsdale is about 30 minutes away from our home.) About the same time they were getting snow, we got a few flurries too. Mike was in taking a nap Sunday afternoon and I looked out the window and saw little flurries of flakes coming down. It didn't last very long but we had snow flakes!
Then, I got a call this morning from Mike's sister, Jenny, and her husband. They have snow in Safford too! Which again doesn't happen all that much. At least down in town. They get snow on Mount Graham because of how high that mountain is right outside of town. But getting snow in the Valley is a very rare thing. They don't get the hot hot weather like we do in Phoenix but they do have a climate similar to ours. They cancelled college classes there because of the snow. That's pretty darn amazing.
Arizona itself does get snow. We have mountains here, it's not all desert. Sure there is the Grand Canyon and 100 degree weather, but Flagstaff has a ski resort and so does the White Mountains, which both regularly have snow every year. We call those areas the High Country because they are much higher than the Phoenix Area, where it is hot. Having lived in the White Mountains in my youth, I know that snow is a regular occurrence. I've also skied at both of the ski resorts here in state too, and it wasn't all man made snow.
