We just got back last night from our second family trip to San Diego, California. This time we went with Nana, Papa, Justin, Adam, and our family. We went to Seaworld again with family. We left last Wednesday and stayed over night with Nana and Papa, drove down Thursday, went to the Birch Aquarium Friday, Seaworld on Saturday, drove home Sunday.
We had a ton of fun and the boys got to see lots of animals. And we got to hit the last few things that we didn't see last time we were there in May. (Since we bought a Fun Card, we didn't have to pay for another admission, yay!) I think we have found our new vacation spot!
When I was little and living in the White Mountains of Arizona, our family vacation weekend spot was driving to Mesa, Arizona and spending our nights in a hotel while we had some family down time. I loved our weekend trips! It was about a 5 to 6 hour drive which as we got older included an audiobook during the drive and a trip to the temple for mom and dad. It looks like a similar tradition is forming for us now too. The time it takes to get to San Diego is the same for us as it was when I was little coming to Phoenix. And there are tons of things to do in San Diego! We didn't hit a ton of places on our trip but we still had fun enjoying the two places we hit without the pressure of having to keep a schedule. Which is great for the ages of the kids right now.
On the way down we listened to books on tape. Mike was listening to his iTouch, I was listening to the book club pick for this month in the book club I'm a member of on my iPod, and the boys were listening to "Charlotte's Web" and "A Cricket in Times Square" on the disc player in the car. So everyone was listening to the book of their choice. Between talking and playing that is. Lots of brain power going on huh? And again keeping up a tradition of audiobooks on a trip. Yay!
The weather was perfect. Not to cold and not hot at all! And we came home to cooler weather in Phoenix too! I can't tell you how happy this makes me to have the cooler weather finally!!
Ethan got sick while he was there. I don't know if it was just a sensitive stomach or the fact that we just figured out that he is teething several teeth all at once, but Ethan vomited once in the hotel room while he was asleep on Saturday evening, and again on our way home. No fever. He upped a little last night too after dinner. So far today he hasn't done anything. So I hope it is just a passing thing, or that his stomach is sensitive because of the teeth. In any case, no fever, still hungry mostly, and he is chewing on things like crazy. All mouth! Hands, toys, brother... whatever he can get his mouth on. And he is cranky too. The littlest things get him upset.
I'll be glad when he is finished with this stage. I have pictures of our trip, but I'll have to upload them later since I'm busy with the after vacation chores. Putting stuff away, laundry, kids are off from preschool for the holiday today but daddy still had to work, and picking up whatever messes two bored children are getting into or left before vacation. Yep my work is cut out for me today. And maybe after lunch which is right about now, I might want to put my feet up to catch up on my energy.
Now that it is cooler out, I want to go for a walk this late afternoon after naps and get on some sort of exercise schedule for the winter.
