Each day, he draws near. Each day, she allows him to come closer. Just a little.
No word spoken, one day, he places a hand on her shoulder; she looks up. Their eyes meet. Comfort given in a touch.
That day, her hand rests over his.
She never mentions who she is; neither does he. He knows only the pain he sees in her eyes, the hand that doesn’t move as it should, the visitors who come to her bedside. She knows only that every day, he draws ever closer. He feels fair after the horror of the Witch King.
