(no subject)
Nearly 2 months since I last wrote, I've been so busy that I haven't really had time. I spent 2 weeks in Hawai'i, 5 days in Waikiki, and 7 days in Kona. Best part of the year so far. I really wish I could go back.
I went back to work on July 31, I am still a long-term sub, but the pay got better this year. Less because of the pay raise, and more because of how the school is going to pay me. As a sub, there are two different pay scales, short term and long term. Last year, even though I subbed every day at this school I was payed on the short term scale unless I was in one classroom for a long period of time. This year, I'm not being payed by the job (short or long), I'm just being payed. So I automatically get the long term pay, even I go from classroom to classroom, every day. Sweet!! Also, I only have 3 classes right now, so out of 7 periods a day, I only work for 3 of them, and I still get payed the same rate :) I'm cruising right now. Almost no stress. All the teachers are jealous, but I would trade my job for theirs any day of the week, for the extra 20k a year!
Last night I broke up with my boyfriend. Sad, but I think even he expected it. I've been really frustrated with this long distance relationship. Especially when I didn't hear from him for 2 weeks at a time. I can't handle shit like that. He would only tell me pieces of what was going on, and I filled in with my imagination the rest. Which is bad, because I have an overactive imagination. And with his past... it just wasn't good my heart, or my head. He still talked about coming to see me this weekend, but I'm heading up to Big Bear for a small Ren Faire. I'm looking forward to a weekend away from it all. And because I have only 3 classes a day - I've spent a lot of the other time, preparing for class, and so I'm pretty much done with lesson plans for next week, and it's only Wednesday, so I'll have lots of free time this weekend! I just have papers to grade, which I can do tomorrow and Friday during my 4 prep periods. :)
I've been spending a lot of time with friends lately. Darrin broke up with his girlfriend a couple months ago, so I've been hanging out with him, and Chris and Kat, and just chillin'. Darrin made me dinner on Sat. night, and we sat and talked till after midnight. It felt good to be hanging out with people, instead of home alone watching TV. So now that I'm single, I'm going to try and get Lena to go out clubbing with me. Just let loose and have fun.
Now that school is back in full swing, and I'm settled into the routine again, I should update more often. I'll probably have more stories from school soon. I've got a fun group of students, hah!
(Speaking of which: I'm at work, and have a student on a time-out right now, he's staring at the walls - and has 15 minutes more to do so. I'd hate to be him)
