Thank you, Jo Rowling, for my childhood.

I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 yesterday. I laughed. I cried. I did both at the same time. And then I went back and did it all over again today.

There were things they left out, and there were things they changed, some for the better, some for the worse. That's how it always goes when you adapt a movie to the big screen.

Anyway.

Full-body goosebumps before the title even appeared on screen. I don't know, something about the music/singing and the fog.

Alan Fucking Rickman. He completely stole the show for me. That man deserves an Oscar. And every single other award. Ever. Holy shit.

The death scene. Tears welling up in my eyes. The desperation on his face, the hand. "Take them. Take them all." "Look at me. You have your mother's eyes." Harry staunching the blood pouring out of his neck rather than Snape himself, and that last extra line. Not in the book, but I don't care. It was perfect. I also really like that in stead of coming out of his ears and nose, his memories came out with his tears. Just... Beautiful. Perfect.

The memory sequence. Oh, god. I loved this chapter in the book, but I freakin' adored it in the movie. Like sra33 said, he was dying, of course it would be all jumbled and muddled, not perfectly chronological, like it was in the book. The anguish... Fuck. When he's standing there, in Dumbledore's office, Lily is dead and he doesn't know what to do with himself. Perfect. When he goes to Godric's Hollow to find Lily dead on the floor, collapses against the wall and then clutches her in his arms sobbing. Not in the book, but it totally should have been. Perfect. When he conjures the patronus doe, and Dumbledore asks him "after all this time?" and he responds "always." I lost it completely. Bawling like a baby.

The look on Harry's face as he resurfaces from the Pensieve. The staggering over to the stairs. Sitting down completely silent. Perfect.

Neville. Oh, Neville. "Boom?" "Yeah! You and who's army?" "That went well." "have you seen Luna? I'm mad for her." and hacking off Nagini's head, fuck yeah. Not a big fan of how they changed how things went with that and Harry "coming back to life" and all those things, but oh well. Neville was still badass.

McGonagall! Oh, Maggie Smith. Oh, McGonagall. She deserves an assload of awards, too. Standing up for Harry. "They're supposed to be, you blithering fool." "Boom." "I've always wanted to use that spell." Just.. love. Love love love. I want to hug her.

Voldemort. Oh, you socially awkward silly thing, you. That little laugh of his, after he's declared Harry dead had the whole theatre giggling. Also, awkward hug was awkwaaaard. (on a scale of 1 to Lord Voldemort, how awkward are your hugs?)

The ghosts in the forest. Tears. Teeeears. Especially Sirius and Remus. I just... man.

King's Cross. Dumbledore. "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" was the line that had me crying and laughing at the same time, by the way. I loved this scene in the book, too, and I think it was beautifully done in the movie. "And where would it take me?" "On."

Also, the dragon. The poor, poor dragon. Beautifully done. I kind of wish they'd commented on how it was practically blind, like they did in the book, but oh well. If you paid attention, you'd notice the eyes were pinkish and pale. Also, Hermione's "That's barbaric." ♥ Also also the escape was beautifully done. I like that they remembered that hey, the poor thing has been stuck way way underground with no room to stretch its wings for a long time, of course it's gonna be struggling and slipping as it tries to move. I also adored that as it reached the open air, it just sat there, breathing heavily until Hermione poked it. Perfect.

The whole movie was absolutely beautiful visually. I'm not really that big into 3D, but I saw this in 3D both times, and it worked really well. The long shots of Hogwarts and the surrounding Scottish nature are breathtaking.

I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but there you go. I'm a bit all over the place.

As I left the theatre, it was raining. It seemed fitting.

"After all this time?"

"Always."

Mischief managed.
