2015 Garden

GARDEN NEWS: Will be a container garden, up along the chain link fence of the garden area in my 'new' (as of last March anyway) apartment.  Like my first garden, it is several stories below my apartment at ground level, but this one is fenced, and the only dangers to my plants are squirrels and loose dogs.  And their owners.  And the other gardeners. ;)  Eventually I'll get a plot, but I have to wait until someone leaves.  I'm told I'm second on the waiting list.

However there will be no daffodils unless I buy new ones...the squirrels ate them all. :(  So far there are only the lemon balm, the kale volunteer from last year that grew in the lime thyme's pot, and my wormies.  And the serviceberry, which has stayed at my parents since I moved here, along with the yarrow.  But for some reason the yarrow completely died, so I brought the pot here and placed the vermicomposter atop it as a place the worms could go down into during the winter as the roots decayed, thus hopefully recycling and re-fertilizing the dirt, and keeping the worms corralled and warm.  I need a spate of dry days to bring the serviceberry here, before it finishes budding, because I'll need to wrap its pot in a garbage bag and lay it down in my trunk without, hopefully, too much mess.  Hopefully that will be accomplished soon.

Most of my supplies, too, are in a storage unit, and I'll have to retrieve them as needed.  I'm debating whether to bring the garbage can planter...until the plants are planted and before I get a plot, it might be mistaken for a garbage-holding garbage can (I really should paint it, I suppose...).  I also have another pressboard piece of a shelving unit that I can use for carrots that is heavy, but can be used while against the fence, and is perfect for nice long Purple Dragons.  Heh...half my carrots over the years have been grown in furniture! XD

OTHER NEWS: I got my first sale on Zazzle!  Someone liked the wrapping paper with my Glen Echo carousel giraffe photo enough to trade cashola for it. :)  I don't know yet if the photos I entered in a local months-long display sold yet...I kind of doubt it, but I've been too chicken to go look.  I've also made a few small sales on deviantArt, plus I signed up as an admin for one of the big groups.
