I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to get a picture of Madeline playing with the TY guinea piggie I bought her today, at the same garage sale I got a 'new' leather computer chair. That's the SECOND 'need' that I've been able to get for a fraction of the price before I move (the other being the free brass and glass table that will be an excellent TV stand).
I drove over the mountains to get a few more larger boxes, but was skunked by the fact that apparently that Uhaul place is only open a few hours on Saturday...but all day Sunday. Go figure.
I was alarmed by something I saw today, tho. A newlywed couple in a carriage being pulled by a Belgian down the main street, which was very cool. But after I pulled up behind it, as it was in my lane, and watched...I noticed several things wrong. First, the horse was barefoot. On hot asphalt! Second thing, an intersection isn't where a horse and carriage should be walking, and so slowly that it takes the entire green light to get across...and THEN speed up into a trot. This indicated to me that the horse was reluctant to speed up quickly. The carriage also angled toward the outer lane like they were going to cross into it but didn't, which is dangerous. But the most telling thing - once the horse was 'encouraged' to trot, he swung his head so far to the left that I could see it from behind the carriage! I was eventually able to pass the carriage and pulled in front of it, where I noted that the horse's head was bobbing back and forth while he trotted, a sure sign of a very sore if not completely lame horse. I asked at the KFC/Taco Bell that I stopped at to get my usual Baja Blast if they knew who it was, and they didn't, tho they'd seen the horse and carriage around. Since I wasn't able to get the boxes today, I'm thinking I'll go over on Tuesday (so as to avoid the 4th crazies) and stop by the in-town horse vet and ask them about the horse while getting Madeline's records. Maybe see if someone can call up and check on the horse...or report it.
