Under The Moonlight

Was listening to Cai Qing [ 蔡琴 ]'s latest album, Under The Moon Light [ 银色月光下 ] the whole day since I got up. Managed to borrow it from a friend to rip out of.. heheh, since I'm really out of budget to spend on anything indulging. Cai Qing has been my recent breakthrough music discovery. She has a very distinctive singing style, to a certain extent almost jazz but she still maintained her Chinese oldie tempo. Her voice mesmerised me, tingled my inner child senses, with an air of familiarity. Anyone who could relate my passion through her music, probably by being her fan may well click very comfortably with me. I have in the last few months, got to know 2 individuals, who by pure coincidence love Cai Qing, also share the same kind of interests with me. Scary huh?

Treating my ears through the 14 tracks of Under The Moon Light, I couldn't help reminisce about the sentimental memories that whizzed by in the midst of this songbird's singing about her longing of her homeland, about the innocence of childhood, about little boys being naughty, about people around her. Very sweet indeed. Even though I'm not familiar with Mandarin, not having been able to read nor write much of it, thanks to friends like Teo neuy and Gordon gordontan who did some translation for me, I am able to appreciate her music to a greater level. More so, to appreciate Chinese music, and my existence as a Malaysian of Chinese ethnicity. Very aptly titled, the album could be best appreciated with some good friends, your lover.. anyone you want to share the moonlight with.

To the closetted Cai Qing fans out there, please own up. At least, reveal yourself to me. Let's start a Cai Qing fan base. •grins•
