We Will Rebuild
The past few weeks have been... taxing on the princess of Mercury, to say the least. It all started with the speech. Representing the senshi and the Shitennou, Mercury had basically bared all that was happening for both the people on Earth, as well as the solar system.
"Your Princess deceived you; this is a fact you cannot hide from any longer. However, this goes the same for the fact that she is dead."
The details of that remained a guarded, close secret. Only the senshi and Shitennou knew the circumstances, and that was how it would remain. The story the people knew was a clever one, concocted by them all working together. And as stories were formed, a kingdom would be as well.
"The times are going to change. Peace between all is our ultimate goal. As an era has ended, a new one has begun. The Silver Millennium is no more."
One of the first tasks Mercury wanted to foresee was the deconstruction (she hesitated to call it "destruction") of the Moon Kingdom's palace. The materials could be reshaped and reused for other things, for the most part. The moon emblem could be removed. And they were already rebuilding the beautiful fountains and landscapes that Mercury was fond of, while she was there. Her goal was to remake the moon into a memorial for those who had died not to protect the Princess, but the galaxy as a whole. That was the Dark Kingdom's ultimate goal, after all. It had taken a while to separate the Princess from the planet, but in time, it came.
"You may think that without the Princess or the Ginzuishou, that we are vulnerable. That couldn't be further from the truth. We are the ones who fight. We are turning the throne from something to be protected into something that protects everyone. The Golden Alliance is beginning."

Which why a harried looking Mercury is sitting on her bed in Mariner Castle, sighing and rubbing her eyes, puffy and light red from sleep deprivation. The silence in indeed deafening, and she eventually just falls on her back, staring at the ceiling.
