Airport and karma

So the inlaws came home from China today. We had to be up by 4:30 am to get to the airport on time (thank you Mr. Tibbs for waking me up at 4 so you could pee....) We got to the airport only to discover that their flight had been delayed an extra 20 minutes. James and I grabbed some coffee from Dome and waited them out. It was 6:30 am by the time we left the airport.

We stayed at the parents for a little bit. Listened to their talk about China and how their trip went, shared a very nice cup of jasmine tea (omg sooooo good) and then loaded up  chest of drawers onto the roof of the car and went on our merry way home. Tibby behaved for the most part, only attacking our dinging table once and eating a tortilla that was left there within his reach.

I took pity on him and took his cone of shame off so that he could scratch at his ears and relax a little bit. He was so happy to have it off. He kept wanting us to scratch and pet his neck and ears. I guess they have been bothering him with it on. I then took him for a walk without the cone and it was THE BEST WALK EVER (according to Tibbs).

I'm debating putting the cone back on him. He pretty much ignores his stitches and only gets irritated by the cone because it snags on stuff and he scrapes it against walls or runs James and I over with the edge of it. I have bruises on my calf from him trying to pass me and ramming me with the cone.

As a cute aside, I've been teaching Tiburon to 'nose bump' instead of fist bump! We bump or touch our noses together. He's gotten really good at complying when I go 'nose bump!' Completely useless trick but it's cute and funny to do with him. He is listening much better overall.

Also Some kids who were being little turds yesterday got a pretty funny scare (and so did Tibs a little). YEsterday when we went for our walk, two kids one on a bike and one on rollerblades ripped past us making noise (shouting and going as fast as they could) in a tunnel that echoes horribly and scares Tibby. They saw us go in and came after us a few seconds later.

Today Tibbs was off leash as we were about to go through the tunnel when the kid with rollerblades came through. Tibby being the 'its moving! nut that he is' semi chased after him and startled the crap out of the kid. Then the kid with the bike came up and was startled because tibby was in the path so he had to swerve. No one was hurt and all Tibby wanted to do was play, tail wagging, all happy.

To be fair, Tiburon was startled by the bike and came running back to me with his tail between his legs and his ears down, looking back at the bike like it wanted to eat him. So Tibbs got a lesson that bikes aren't for chasing and those two snotty kids had karma give them a warning rumble.

As a note, I only let Tibbs off leash in the park so that he can run around and play ball and usually he has pretty good recall, especially for only having him a little over week.
