Beyond my wildest dreams

OMG, I just woke up from the most amazing dream ... I dreamt I spent a week in New York City with a wonderful group of Rushies and met Geoffrey Rush himself. Not only did we meet him, but he cordially invited us to his dressing room for champagne after his amazing performance in Exit the King (the first one after his well-deserved Tony win and Read more... )

I can't wait!

Did he seem really friendly and talkative at the dinner?

I feel so incredibly cheated not getting to attend this great event. Now more than ever. Such a wasted opportunity! I have the hubbie to thank.

Yay, Suzanne! He really got a kick out of that!

We talked all night, (and him with his hands) and he was certainly friendly and thoughtful, though behind his eyes I think he was tired. He had partied till dawn the morning before and he had just given the performance of a lifetime - (that cast was RED HOT Tuesday night. I don't know how he did it - but he sure did!) So yes, he was talkative yet very laid back.

I was surprised that we didn't come up with more questions for him - I don't remember any one of us 'rambling' - I guess there was just so much to take in... and it may have been a new experience for him, too, meeting cyber folk - practically strangers. Next time (God willing) we'll all feel more 'at home'!

OMG, yes, he did put his all into that performance, didn't he? And I agree, he seemed tired, yet still very cordial. Hope he didn't wear himself out for the rest of the week!

And yes, he talked a lot, and it was all interesting. That's why I felt like I talked too much ... I feel like every time I said something, that was one less thing he had time to say. Plus he kept asking us questions; he was actually interested in li'l old us. (I wonder if that's how he stays so humble and grounded; I've heard other stories about him, not just fan stories, that suggest that he actually likes to hang around with "regular" people rather than being insulated and surrounding himself with cronies and showbiz folks all the time. For example, I recall reading in a pirate re-enactor's magazine a while back some extras saying he was the only major actor in the first POTC who hung out in the bar with them after filming at the end of the day. Which not only makes him a cool dude, but I'm sure that interacting with all different kinds of people contributes ( ... )

PS: Forgot the other part of your question: Yes, he was extremely friendly! Almost too easy to talk to; apart from the subject matter we discussed, he kind of manages to make you forget that he's a famous movie star! Or was it just me?

Yep, that's Geoffrey and his super-soothing aura! It hits one later when you go and watch a movie with him in and then think "no way was I sat talking to him about normality"!

For someone so awesome, he really plays a normal person quite convincingly! ;)
