Beyond my wildest dreams

Jun 16, 2009 17:15

OMG, I just woke up from the most amazing dream ... I dreamt I spent a week in New York City with a wonderful group of Rushies and met Geoffrey Rush himself. Not only did we meet him, but he cordially invited us to his dressing room for champagne after his amazing performance in Exit the King (the first one after his well-deserved Tony win and Read more... )

Susan! Susan!
I love your post.
Our time together was way too short. I would have liked to have heard your answer to Geoff's "And what do you do?"
I miss you and I hope we get the chance to do this again - if he's not in town, we could meet in Geoff's honor. That would be fun, too.

He rescued you damsels? I missed that part - I must have been in the loo.

Thank you so much for the gorgeous recording of the Tonys! It's so funny how I remembered the end of his speech (the part about his family) so much differently than what he actually said. Where did I get the idea that he thanked them for 'all the reasons their absence was so painful?' I scare myself sometimes.
Thanks again. Cheers!

"I would have liked to have heard your answer to Geoff's 'And what do you do?'"

LOL, so would I! That's why I'm glad he didn't get to me. ;)

Yes, we should definitely all meet again in honor of the man who brought us together in the first place. :)

Yes, I think you were in the loo when that guy came ambling up to us and started off by making some rude comment to Holly which I didn't quite catch ... then he went rambling on and on about how he wasn't going to deny that he sells weed ... and I'm just nodding along afraid to turn away, wondering what he wanted but knowing Geoffrey would protect us. Well, Geoffrey was a lot more perceptive than I was because just as he got to the part about needing money for the train, I see Geoffrey's hand swoosh past me wielding a $5 bill like a cutlass ... which the guy took and promptly went away.

I can't wait!

Did he seem really friendly and talkative at the dinner?

I feel so incredibly cheated not getting to attend this great event. Now more than ever. Such a wasted opportunity! I have the hubbie to thank.

I know, I felt bad once I realized that you couldn't hear him; plus it must have been the hardest for you having to think in a foreign language in addition to hearing over the noise. You should have been sitting next to him as you are the one who provides us with so many wonderful pictures of him, and now we know how much he likes them! (I didn't plan to sit next to him; it just ended up that way, and I didn't even realize everyone couldn't hear him as well as I could until you mentioned it.) Next time (yes, I hope there'll be a next time!!!), we'll have to make sure you are right beside him! :)

Meanwhile, as I mentioned in my e-mail, I'm going to make sure I write down everything he said to us that I can remember and make sure you all get a copy; I hope everyone will add their own specific memories.

Of course, this gives you the perfect reason to write to him again and tell him all about the wine in France! :D

AW ! No worries, Susan !!!! You really do not need to feel bad about our own seats !!!! I know that you didn't chose your seat on purpose !!!! We were just the first ones to enter in Joe Allen's right behind Geoffrey, so we sat in the order we arrived !

Of course, this gives you the perfect reason to write to him again and tell him all about the wine in France! :D
Ah Ah !!! This letter is nearly ready to be written !!!! XD

PS : Perhaps you received my email... about your Picassa album ?!... I can't see any pics !!!! *SOB*

"This letter is nearly ready to be written !!!! XD"

Glad to hear it. XD I need to write to him too now! I never have before. My problem isn't trying to think of what to say to him; it's trying to think what not to say. You know how wordy I can be. Not to mention that comment he made about that long fan letter he received ... Not that he said anything mean, but I don't want him rolling his eyes at my letter!

I replied to your e-mail; did you try again to get to the album? I hope it's working.

Nicely written! I missed the weed-selling man, too, since I was in the loo-queue. It's great how Geoffy knows just how to deal with people. :D We can all feel safe with him.

I think I talked rather too much... I don't talk a lot but if I'm given an opening, I tend to ramble a little. I don't always make sense either - I'm not very good with words.

The whole thing certainly felt like a dream - I'm having trouble remembering what happened, and when, so writing up my memoirs is going to be tricky! I just remember key moments so will have to build up the rest of the night around it, if I can. ^^;

BTW, do you remember what on earth the "Adventures of Ranger Geoffrey" was about? I know Lauren, you and I talked about that and I can't for the life of me remember what led to that conversation. :D

I love your icon! I'm going to snag one, thanks ... I just wish I had space actually to use more than 15 in my journal, but that's such a classic quote.

I didn't think you talked too much at all! Seemed like the appropriate amount. I guess we all felt that Geoffrey should be doing all the talking and we should just be sitting in silent, wrapt attention instead of conversing with him like he was some kind of mere mortal. ;) Which I would have been doing if he hadn't got us all drunk! (OK, for those who weren't there, I'm exaggerating ... but I wouldn't be surprised if he gave us alcohol on purpose to help us relax and not clam up or faint or squee at him! And considering I almost never touch alcohol and that night I had two glasses of champagne and two of wine--and I'm on medication that's not supposed to be mixed with such liquids--that was pretty drunk for me. I really felt it as I was staggering down the stairs at the end ( ... )

I wish I could remember where the hell that came from....!? Damn, it must've made sense at the time. XD

I missed the weed-selling dude too...shame about that. XD Didn't someone mention that he said something to Holly?
