This morning was my 36 week appointment.
I woke up in a lot more pain than usual, and almost immediatly started getting cramps that began at the top of my stomach and moved down. This happened a few times every hour, for about 5 hours. UG!
My Dr. didn't say anything about them being Braxton-Hicks contractions, but every one else i've talked to seems to think that's what they are.
I spent a lot of time talking to my Dr. about the weird aches and pains i've been getting. (Stomach cramping, round-ligament pain, a sudden achy lower back, feeling like there is an ice pick being shoved through my bladder and downwards, and groin pain. A lot of the cramping honestly feels like a cross between a bad gas bubble, and the horrible feeling I get before my period arrives...UG!)
Some days are definetly better/worse than others.
Today was a BAD day.
So bad that I had to call out of work for the first time since before Christmas.
I could barely walk.
The only thing that relieved the pain was a hot shower. (And I think it's almost time for another ..... owch!!!)
Something else that happened today (don't read the next line if you're squeamish, lol), was that I began to loose my mucus plug. This actually happened when I went to use the toilet at the Dr.'s office. I'm glad it happened there, because I got freaked out and started to cry, so it was nice to have the nurse there to tell me what was going on, and that it was okay, and perfectly normal.
Gross though.
I also had an internal exam today.
The baby is in the correct position, but hasn't dropped all the way into my pelvis yet. My cervix is also still closed.
However, with all the pains I was describing, my Dr. told me that either this mean that I am going to go into labor within the next 48 hours, OR I am in for a LOT of pain in the next few weeks.
Wonderful.
I do not think at all that this baby is coming this week, btw. lol
She better not, I am not ready! We are almost there, but not quite!
Today was also the first time that my Dr. recomended that I leave work. She said there is no medical reason for me to leave, but with my discomfort level and pain, alongside of having a physically demanding job, she thinks it's time.
(I would love to leave work, like, tomorrow, but, you see, Jay lost his job last week.... sooo, financially, we are screwed....so what do I do??? I'm in sooo much pain!!!)
She also said I definetly need to be getting more rest.
She even wrote me a prescription of Ambien to help me sleep better. And that was BEFORE I told her all about how I've been lying in bed awake at night, though i'm absolutely exhausted.
So, the Ambien train I surely will be riding tonight!
I have begun to tackle the massive amounts of baby laundry this week.
Last night I brought some of it to my mother's and we washed and sorted through a bunch of stuff. She also sent me off with another heaping bag of hand-me-downs! I am now on my second load of laundry here today, and still have quite a bit more to go!
On Saturday my mother is going to come up and help me get organized, get the clothes all put away, and start to put the nursery together more!
This past Saturday was my baby shower!
Everything went off really well!
I hate that I stressed so much about it, but unfortunatly the personalities that my family and friends have, though they didn't mean to do it, in one way or another, they all stressed me out about it before it happened!
I'm so glad it went so well!
Kerry and my mother and my sisters and Sarah did an EXCELLENT job!!
Thank-You SO SO SO MUCH guys!!!!! :D
Being the center of attention was actually a little odd, so I think I over-focused on oooohing and aaahhing over my gifts. LOL
I loved them all though!
We got so many awesome things!!!! And, sooo many ADORABLE clothes!!!
I also got my nursery set!!!!
I can't wait until Craig (Jay's brother) drives the crib out here (from CO) in June so that we can set it all up!!!!
Yesterday we got the family cradle from my parents house, so we'll be setting that up real soon. It's going to have all blue accessories in it though, because that's what they got for Dylan, and there's no need to buy all new stuff when we're switching to the crib so shortly after. lol
It's a good thing I'm not picky about 'gender colors.' haha
I can't stop going into the nursery and staring at all of the things we've gotten! It's just so neat and I can't wait until the room is completely set up!!
A few highlights from the shower were the diaper cakes that my mother made, she made one for me, and one esspecially for Jay! His had clothes pins for his nose, rubber gloves, a pail for diapers, giant tongs to pick up the diapers with, handi-wipes, and other funny stuff. Mine had washcloths and lots of pretty headbands and hair accessories decorating it! She did SUCH a good job!
I also enjoyed the clothes line my mother and Colleen set up with cute onesies, my favorite being a pink one with a black panda face on it!!!
Some of my favorite gifts (don't worry people, I loved ALLLLL of our gifts!!!) were the Baby Einstein excersaucer that Kerry's parents bought me, our first FuzziBunz cloth diaper that Dez bought us (we're going to use a chunk of the money we recieved as gifts to buy more of them!), our nursery set with most of the accessories, and this INCREDIBLE play mat my cousin Danielle bought us that is made from all recycled organic material from clothing in the shop she got it at!!! :D
Sarah did a fantastic job on the food! And her mother brought down a crock-pot of keilbasa, since it's been one of my favorite pregnancy foods! lol It was soooo yummy!!!!
Dave, Colleen's on-again-off-again b/f made the cake and did such a fantastic job!
It was a short 3-teir cake with white frosting, and chunky flower cut-outs made of fondant in light and dark purple, and green! I LOVED it!! :D
We also got bottles, and (3!) boppies, and toys, and a changing pad, and awesomely soft blankets, and swaddles, and lots of organic stuff, a monitor, a baby carrier, a gift certificate to the organic baby boutique in Milford, and clothes, clothes, and more clothes!
Again, thank-God my mother is coming up this weekend to help me get organized and figure out what else we need! :P
My nephew Dylan was a riot at the shower!! He was SUCH a ham! He is walking now so he was toddling around everywhere, flashing smiles and and laughing at everyone! Kerry said that she swears every time I said something was 'cute' he laughed and cooed! hahaha!
He was totally hamming it up!!!
Paula took a bunch of pictures for us with her awesome camera, and I so cannot wait to see them!!
Yesterday Colleen gave me the pics that Laura took with her camera, they were the first pics I had seen! They are a riot!
I can't wait to see the rest!
It was a really fun day!
And now we just wait for baby A to arrive.....
