The lanterns glowed red in the water. Hakkai dipped his hand in, and they burst into ripples of light. He sank further into the bath until the waves of fire overtook him.
He enjoyed this brief moment- away from the road, the dust, the fighting that never took a breath-
Right...I should breathe...
His head broke the surface. He opened his eyes to the red lights above and the red hair hanging over him.
He smiled. "Did I scare you?"
Gojou scowled. "...No."
"Good," Hakkai reached his hand up until his fingers touched red. "Because I scare me."
It burned.
