Home sweet home

I'm in Minnesota for winter break! I'll be in St. Paul most of the time. Taking our annual family Lake Superior trip from the 26th to the 31st (back for that night, though, somebody have a New Years' party!), and I go back to Stanford Monday January 3rd.

MN friends: let's do stuff!

Flight home was nice, least stressful air travel experience I've had in a while. And there were a ridiculous number of Stanford people sightings, both in the airport (Jen Bass, presumably en route to Detroit, and some random frosh) and the at least 6 or 7 Stanford Minnesotans on my flight. Cheri and I did online check-in beforehand at the same time and grabbed seats next to each other, so that was nice. Usually I get stuck by some fat guy or some middle-aged woman wearing smelly perfume.

Nice as usual to eat home-cooked food, sleep in my bed, etc. We put up the Christmas tree today and decorated it. Weather is decidedly unsatisfactory: warmer than usual for December and no snow at all (the two things kinda go together of course). =( It was incredibly windy today, which was kinda cool.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to Highland's math meet. I'll be a cheerleader for my old team, which is second in the state by a 2 point margin after meet 1 last month!

Also got to take my laptop to FirstTech tomorrow so it can get its third logic board, which it will hopefully keep and take with it to its grave.

The upside amid computer crisis: I GOT MY FREE IPOD!!!! Only took 5 months! Yay pyramid scheme. It's making me very happy right now, because I have 16 backup CDs containing my MP3 library, so I can copy them onto it and have all the music I had at the end of August, albeit nothing acquired since then (that stuff is only on my nonfunctioning laptop).

Another computer note: I miserably failed to pirate the Mac version of Finale, an expensive music composition program which I want to work on a capella arrangements over break. I tried the CD I burned it onto, to discover that I only copied an alias, rather than the actual installer. Doh. Who by the name of Matt Hunt who I believe has a copy of this program wants to help me out???

My brother is fuzzy. He has more facial hair now than I do. Weird.

That is all for now.
