I watched the ceremony live through CNN.com. It was cool; but I'm hoping, on some level, that many people feel the same way as Mr. JSmooth and I about how much work is left to do... but I doubt it.

The executive director from the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights was the police liaison for today's Oscar Grant rally. Lots of negotiation took place prior to this afternoon to assure that the police would back off. I would say that most of the afternoon and evening were great. Why do I care? As Dr. Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, puts it, "Numerous deleterious health consequences are associated with [marijuana's] short- and long-term use, including the possibility of becoming addicted."
