Driving Home and Xmas Party

Dec 23, 2006 11:22

I’m actually writing this Friday night, but my internet at home goes screwy whenever I come home and use the wireless.

Yesterday was The Orgo Test of Doom. Ironically, I thought it was relatively easy, I guess, not as much as the third exam, but definitely better than the first two. My guess is I’ll get a B in the class, which is all right by me, since that was my goal all along.

I drove home that afternoon with two freshmen who went to my high school. The highlights of the drive was Greg bitching at the beginning about the Christmas song about the little boy buying Christmas shoes for his terminally-ill mother so that “she can look beautiful if she meets Jesus . . . tonight . . .” I have to agree with him that that song gets on my nerves with all it’s sappiness. We listened to random Christmas songs along the way (Christine had a mixed CD), and with perfect timing, the Christmas shoes song comes on the radio three minutes before I pull into Greg’s driveway (He goes to change the station, but I turn up the volume, hehe). The song finished just as I turned off the car; it was fated.

Today I went shopping with Dana, my two cousins and our uncle from Texas. I have a weird family.

Tonight one of my friends had a Christmahannakwanzakah party. I finally got to play Apples to Apples . . . and loved it. Ironically, Amy, I won “Lazy” with “Boyfriends” and then immediately drew “Rosa Parks” from the red card pile. Another popular pairing (although it did not actually happen) was “Touchy-Feely” with “Hellen Keller.” In the end, I was “Melancholy” and “Lazy” but also “Fresh” and “Sexy” (which I won with “Witch Hunts” . . .). We also had a gift exchange. My gift, the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest fleece throw, was popular, which made me happy. Other popularly stolen gifts included a mug of the head of the dwarf in LotR (Gimli?) and a paper doll book of Pope John Paul II. I ended up with a faux rattlesnake skin purse and the DVD How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days because Anna took pity on me (I had opened it up with a straw cowboy hat, and she only really wanted the hat anyway, so she gave me the DVD). It was really a great party (yay Katherine!); I got to see a lot of fun people I haven’t in a while. I also got to drink warm spiced (not spiked, as some had hoped) apple cider (mmm yummy in my tummy :-) ).

Tomorrow is a day full of baking cookies. Hundreds of cookies. I’m not sure what I’m doing Sunday, but it will probably involve meeting Alisha, who is visiting another friend in the Kansas City area.

Tiredness. Ciao.

Edit Saturday morning: Yay internet is working! But who knows for how long . . . .
