Ok, so first thing on my mind. This next episode of Sherlock? It's going to HAVE to be EPIC. The trailer the BBC released was perfect: I LOVE that the episode is apparently going to start off with the trial. Let's get the boring stuff out of the way. Also, the use of Nina Simone's "Sinnerman" was probably the best music/visual effect I've ever seen in a television show. And then, I saw that photo...the one that the Daily Mail had thought was the actor falling 70 feet from a roof, but what was actually scripted*. THIS implication (that Sherlock is going to take a very nasty tumble), coupled with Moriarty's role as THE CREEPIEST VILLAIN EVER, and the emotional impact that any version of Reichenbach must have...AHHH!!! I haven't been this incoherent emotionally invensted in an upcoming fictional continuation since chapter 495-ish of One Piece. It's so good to be back!!!!
Ok...settle down...
Sunday, why aren't you here yet?!?
I've also pinned down what I think made me not like the second episode of both seasons: they weren't about Sherlock and/or John specifically. That is, the cases were completely removed from their personal lives. Also, the cases in question were rather straight forward with very few plot-twists. Scandal and TGG, on the other hand, were full of unforeseen plot-twists and were pretty much centered on Sherlock. (Also, neither of the two middle episodes have Sherlock do that observation-with-text thing he does when analyzing someone, though I think I'm going to watch them both again to make sure of this.)
Man. I love this show. And the writers. And the actors. There's a girl in my class who thinks she's seen Sherlock, and was describing it to me. She asked if Watson was the "cute blonde one" and I mentioned that most people seem to find the actor who plays Sherlock the "cute" one. She disagreed, called him insane, and probably thinks my tastes are suspect. Quite rightly, probably.
Ok.
Whew.
In more serious news, we had to endure about 4 hours of a Human Behavior lecture/small group discussion on "Sexual Behavior". I was rather disappointed that asexuality wasn't mentioned once. And, as a person who is asexual, it was that same mix of discomfort and amusement that I get when I hear people talk about sex. One notable response was when, during our small group discussion, the doctor person mentioned doctors being sexually attracted to their patients and I had a genuine moment of "how?" followed by "do people really experience that?" It really is such a foreign concept to me.
*And, really, a 70 ft fall? I did the math: a fall from that height takes about 4.53 seconds and the body will hit the ground at about 95 mph. So, Daily Mail, the actor in question would be DEAD if that were to happen. Do your research.
