Ok. So, I've come to the realization that I'm going to be pretty much useless these next few days. And to make things worse, I have anatomy tutoring at 4 on Sunday, which is the time that the final episode ends. So I get to delay my watching of it by an hour.
And I foresee quite a few posts that I'm going to be making here as I masochistically search the internet for information about The Reichenbach Fall.
For example, reading a transcript* of the panel interview (which I NEVER do!) after a screening of The Hounds of Baskerville, I got this gem of a quote from Mark Gastiss:
"This is not Sherlock Holmes at 55 who is absolutely definite about his world view. He is still capable of having it challenged or shaken so across these three stories we wanted to do Sherlock and love, Sherlock and fear, Sherlock and death and that’s what we described it as."
I...really don't know what to think...This episode is going to be intense.
And then there's this from Steven Moffat:
" Mind you… I just watched it today (The Reichenbach Fall) it’s heartbreaking isn’t it?
And the closing comment: "Well we saw love last week, fear tonight, now we only have death to look forward to…"
Not only am I dying in anticipation, but I'm starting to want series 3 NOW! And there was a mention that the best they can do is 3 episodes every 18 months. Such is the price of quality, I guess...
As I read the interview, it became really clear just how intelligent these people are and I couldn't help but think, "My God, they're doing everything right!" In my opinion, they have truly mastered the craft of story-telling and, especially, character development.
