There's an egg strike.
Our chickens haven't been laying well for a few weeks. We thought it was because a few of them were brooding and we were away so much and couldn't pay attention to them properly. But then the guy who lives behind us, BB, came over on Sunday to ask us to let his chickens (Wyandottes) in and out while he is away for a week. He said that his chickens haven't been laying well for three weeks ... since a raccoon broke in and killed two of them.
E thinks that they might not be laying because it's been very foggy and their laying is keyed to daylight. BB thinks it's because of the raccoon attack. Tonight I put away three sets of chickens (ours, BB's and the people down the street who have four Rhode Island Reds) and the Rhode Island Reds are laying, so it's not the daylight.
