A year ago, I wrote myself an email with a list of journal entries I wanted to write. It's been a year and I have not written them:
Shack in the back
EK thought she could keep her kids away from pop culture.
Other family at campsite
Coaching ZC through being stern to intern
Fingernail
B in boat out too far
I remember the broad outlines of what I meant for all of these except "Fingernail."
I started our writing this entry to talk about how I have failed at these six ideas - but now I think that I am going to try to write them, anyway. They are not fresh and vivid to me. Usually I write about things that happened today, or things in the past that are sharp for me today because there is something going on presently that reminds me of the past. These are just the past. Tomorrow: shack in the back.

We got our first baby egg today. We only have two hens left from the 30 chicks that arrived in February, and today one of those two laid her first egg. It's small. I weighed it at 36 grams and most of our girls lay eggs that are more than 60 grams.
