Jinx's Surgery Day

Emergency vet clinic has been true to their word thus far. They've called us every morning and evening since leaving Jinx behind. We're told that he's feeling somewhat more chipper this morning and he's actually had a little bit of a bowel movement. (How many enemas later, I wonder? By yesterday morning, it had been at least two and he'd only been there less than twelve hours.) He's still in pain and isn't eating anything, but the pain meds are keeping him somewhat comfortable. They took a picture of his heart as they noticed that it was a little enlarged in the x-ray and wanted to be sure that he didn't have any defects that would make having the surgery moot. Everything turned out normal and Jinx appears to be in decent health aside from the bad hip break.
My father took the call this morning when they phoned us with Jinx's update. Still no word on when the surgery is. I'm going in to open the store this morning. I'm off mid-afternoon. My manager arranged for me to have Sunday off without my having asked for it. She apparently discussed it with Chris, our copy guy, and he volunteered immediately to cover the five hour shift. They "both think that no matter the outcome," I should be off. I'm hoping that tomorrow will be spent bubbling over with relief and joy that Jinx will be coming home. Today I'll spend distracting myself thoroughly with work, possibly running around my lvl 80 WoW toon and if we still haven't heard from the vets by the evening, the Dr Who season premiere that I've been on pins and needles waiting for for months.
