Called the emergency pet clinic as soon as I got home at three-thirty to check up on Jinx as my mother said they hadn't heard anything all day. The vet employee I spoke to told me that he was in surgery right that moment, and that the vet would call "soon" with an update. Well, they called at quarter-to-five or so and gave my mother the update: Jinx repsonded very well to the anesthetic and the vet was able to get in and fix the broken pelvic bone. We'll know actual specifics about the surgery when we go in to get him or when they call back tomorrow morning with an update as to how he did overnight.
If all goes well overnight - and there's every reason to think he'll do just fine - Jinx will be allowed to come home tomorrow sometime, probably mid- to late afternoon. He's to be on "cage confinement" for the next six weeks, so tomorrow morning, I'll be disinfecting Sam's old kennel cage and putting in some bedding and a litter pan. The cage will be kept in the guest room where I've been sleeping, so I'm sure I'll go back to having crappy sleeps again. At this point, I couldn't care less. Jinx is coming home! I'm so relieved, I'm in tears.
