Casablance in Malayalam?

Hmm... I have no idea how good or bad this Rajeev Nath chap is, but given the trend of remaking Hollywood movies in India, this might just be another damp squib!

I had an excellent weekend vacation at the Om Beach in Gokarna, but have been too busy to write about it. This Friday night we are off to Hampi! This time, we plan to explore the other side. Am SO excited!

I finished reading the rather lame HOMGKGWAGAL - How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life by Kaavya Viswanathan.

It is very apparant that it was a "practice" desk writing job (quite sub-par) at that, but the story does have its moments. What is constantly annoying is Opal's parents and their blind quest of getting her into Harvard, ignoring her other needs, and the stereotypical, filmy, Indian buffoonery. I can't imagine any parent behaving that way! very, Very VERY annoying.

BUT, I think all the hoo haa about plagiarism, etc. could have been avoided. She was only 17 when she got the deal and am sure, it must have been such a heady feeling that she must have forgotten about the plagiarized portions! The packagers and editors should be the one that are sued, not the girl, I think.

The fact that Katie Curic chides her in the interview is also slightly disheartening.

Well, maybe she is lying, but she is apologizing on national TV. She is desperately trying to get some respect back and the fact that she is a Harvard student should reflect positively on her too. Sigh! At least she hasn't shot a classmate like the many deranged teenagers. Ironic, that this is somewhat similar to the HOWGAL plan being revealed in Opal's highschool and her losing face.

Here's my cutie!
