My saved draft turns out to have disappeared.

My virtual sisters-in-law sucked up most of the weekend and grated up all my good cheddar cheese and left popcorn making scattered (although to be fair they did wash the broiler and the bacon-greased griddle, so on the whole a plus I suppose).  Sister N's visits always make me  very territorial about ( Read more... )

Yes, it's true. Having been home since late Thursday night, we leave tomorrow for Chicago for a flying (pun intended) visit to CIROBE, the big remainder book show to buy yet more books. Mostly this is for B's benefit, since his business handles a lot of more recent material, but I take advantage of the event to pick up a few small items every year ( Read more... )

Where I am firmly attending to the three cardinal rules:

Do not close the bathroom door
Do not turnoff the dribble of water in the bathroom sink
Do not leave the lid of the toilet seat up

Because otherwise the cat can't get into the bathroom to leap up on the sink and get his head dribbled on...

Off to Bellingham shortly.

"Look says I, you gots these nice litter boxes, whyfor you peeing around all the
doors? Cats say because you close the doors. I say, Because if we don't you pee
in the rooms. Stand off. Never argue with a cat."

Of course, in my cat's case, substitute "spit up your breakfast" for "pee".

Although it's still up in the 90s, somehow that doesn't seem like a big deal after the last few days. The small cat is even smaller due to shedding her short fur as fast as she can lick it off, but we all slept downstairs in the guestroom last night (cooler by dint of being built into a hillside) and felt almost human this morning ( Read more... )
