It seems as if posts are going to be a weekly occurrence now since I no longer have work in the afternoons to provide me the spare time and reminder to post here frequently.
So wasn't really considering going to a Beaverton School District HR mtg after my first night of class tonight, but I ended up deciding to go, and I'm glad that I did. BTW for those not in Oregon, BSD one of the best districts in the area to teach at :)
Turns out that they will let you apply to positions before you have your licsense/degree if you are on your way to a degree/licsense. And they just put up their postings like 2 weeks ago for general positions (ie by the age level- elementary or secondary) and will post detailed positions in a few months updating them weekly. It's also really good they said to apply early to show interest when the applicant pool is small to say that you are interested and put you on thier radar. This also gives you a better chance at being known and hired by them. So that goes on my to do list for the end of the week.
As for classes today, I still am not in the loop on what my CT wants me to do, and hasn't really told me the plan for things still. So I am going to have to talk to her about how things are going to go, and how we are going to communicate to make this work I think. Because right now I don't feel I'm getting to do enough in the classroom or know enough to be useful and informed in the class right now. I am also wary of the fact that I am not being respected enough and seen as a teacher figure by the students, and I'm not sure exactly how to change that right now, I just know it's going to be a huge obstacle when I try and teach a class lab on Wed when my US comes for my first formal observation, which will be my first time in charge of the class as a whole and teaching an entire lesson and for a lab class at that.
