I'm so easy to thrill - had the dogs out at the dog park, looked up to see a bald eagle flying over. I've never seen one in the city. Amazing.

Once again woke up to intimidating thunder and lightening and four weather alerts: Severe thunderstorm warning, tornado watch, Flood Advisory, and Flash Flood Watch. Either it's pouring rain or heat index pushing 100 degrees, and either way I have a year and half old rat terrier who is not getting anywhere near enough exercise ( Read more... )

Took the first day of vacation off. Did nothing but read and walk the dogs and nap. Tomorrow I have to plant and weed, but today just enjoying the weather and the new Kate Christensen.

So a cool little pet store had a seminar about taking care of senior dogs last night. My dogs are twelve and fourteen, the pet store is just a couple of blocks away, so I went. The entire city is coated in ice. I just tried to take the dogs for a walk and didn't get past my own sidewalk. Everything, everything is coated in ice. Hopefully when the sun comes up in an hour or so, this will melt; but until then there's no going anywhere. My cinematography needs work, but not bad for a little dog turning fourteen tomorrow!

The city and county monitor mosquito levels by placing mosquito traps around the county and counting how many skeeters get caught every night. Normal is about 50 per trap per night.
