HBO is developing a series based on George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire Saga.
My first reaction is Swell! And my second one is How? Martin's books are incredibly complex and episodic without a straight forward storyline. Yes, it all centers on a war of control; but seen from so many viewpoints and with such a multitude of characters. I have trouble seeing how they'd sort it all out. Many, many characters are going to have to be jettisoned. At least they realize this has to be a series, would never work as a movie. I don't know whether to look forward to it or not. At least it will be on HBO, these are very adult books, with complex politics, and equally complex sex and violence.
