I had a fantastic weekend. Friday night we stayed in, took it easy. I made a couple of recipes from my new Rick Bayless cookbook, drank some micheladas, and watched one of my favorite movies, The Departed ( Read more... )

My visit back east inspired me. I may only rent this place, but that doesn't mean I can't make it a little better. Sure, I'm investing in someone else's property, but I'm also investing the place where I live, making it a nicer place to live. That's got to be worth something ( Read more... )

I've been meaning to get around to this and just haven't. 2008 was an amazing year in so many ways, all full of highs and lows and simply must be remembered properly.

January:

Skied a lot. Made a list of things to accomplish before I turn 30 at the end of January 2009. Joined Seattle Works. My sister got engaged.

February:

It was all over the news, people posted photos and blog entries, and by now, much of the world knows that the city of Seattle was buried in snow the weekend before Christmas this year. It was, all told, only about a foot of snow at the worst, but this is not Chicago or Minneapolis. This is a city of steep hills and we don't know how to deal with ( Read more... )

I know I've probably been softened by a few years in the Pacific Northwest, and as soon as I hit the ground in Illinois next week I will relearn the meaning of cold, but at the moment, it seems pretty damn cold outside.
