My grandmother
Went to buy our family Christmas tree today to help my mom "get in the mood" for Christmas. She says it's not Christmas until she has her tree. (By the way, buying a FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE is so much more fun when the whole FAMILY is there with you! It sucks by yourself...) So found a tree. Also stopped by Lowe's to buy my only living grandmother's Christmas present- gift certificates to fix up her house. Got tree home on top of my mom's SUV. Find out when I get inside that my grandmother has fallen at work and broken her face. For a bit of clarification, my mom's sister called and said that the doctors say she has broken her eye socket, her nasal cavity and her cheekbone.
My grandmother doesn't remember falling at all.
So I am really worried for her right now. This is not exactly what I would have asked for for Christmas. And I'm sure it's not what SHE wanted for Christmas... But the more I think about it, the more I wish that my grandmother lived NEAR US and not in Timbuktu Mississippi!!! (Okay, technically it's Becker, but it's the same difference!) And I wish she didn't have to FUCKING WORK at her age! WHY, please someone explain to me, ~WHY~ can't senior citizens RETIRE in this F***ing COUNTRY?!?! Why can't the country take care of them so they don't HAVE to go collect CARTS in the cold in the F***ING WAL-MART PARKING LOT at 70+ years old?!?!?!?!
