Beautiful Barton Springs!

Feb 06, 2007 08:58

It was so cold this morning (45°) that it was all foggy right above Barton Springs. In fact, when I was in the water looking towards downtown, and it had started to get light, it looked like Barton Springs must be on fire due to all the "smoke" rising off of it.

I'm so glad it's starting to get light earlier. After one lap, it was light enough to see the bottom. That always gets me going faster and smoother. Not many people were at swim this morning. Maybe 6 or 7? If I can keep up this working out, I will be a super swimming stud come Silverman time. Yesterday, it was just gorgeous out (70°!) and I thought "Darn. Too bad it's an off day." That is a great sign that I am doing all this training and not at all burned out. Yay!

I got a big package in the mail yesterday. A new sweatshirt hoodie that is sooooo soft on the inside. I'm not one for buying warm clothes. Too hot to wear most of the year in Texas and then forget that they're packed away when it actually gets cold. But I couldn't pass up this deal on $15 for an OSU tri club sweatshirt. It's cute! and it has kept me cozy and warm this morning!

Swim workout: 3, 2, 1 lengths (easy/warmup, build, fast). Then I did one more lap as a cool down. After the "fast", it was amazing how effortless it felt.

6:28 (from the stairs) downstream
6:47 upstream
6:35 downstream

6:24 upstream
6:09 downstream

5:41.8 upstream, fast

Total: 8 lengths. Let's see if my "fast" will get faster this year!
