I see I’ve managed to get ten days into the new year without posting. In my defense, I’ve been writing, which is a nice change of pace. In fact, I seem to have been taken by an Attack Book, so I’m going to run with it to the end and see how that goes.

Apparently my resolution is to sleep through 2016. Of the as-of-this-moment 41 hours available in 2016, I have slept, napped, or rested through 23 of them. The somewhat alarming thing is that I feel I could quite probably go back to sleep.

I can't say as I'm sorry to see the back of 2012. It's been a tiring and stressful year. I've probably written as much as I usually do--in the region of 300K words--but at least 80K of it got thrown out completely and seems like a waste. I love the new year. It may be my favorite holiday, even if it's perfectly silly for it to fall ten days after the solstice instead of on it. But I love the whole fresh start idea and I love resolutions and ambitions and just all of it. I reached the 33% point of WORLDBREAKER yesterday, which puts the 50% mark within reach this week, as long as I get at least 3300 words a day in. Today, thanks to a proper early start (10:20am, which in turn is thanks to going to the gym before 8, so I’m up and functional and ready to /go/ by 10am), I got in 3800 words. Know what my resolution last year was? To floss. It was probably the most achievable resolution I’ve ever set, and indeed, I achieved it. I established a habit which had escaped me through ten or more years of vaguely feeling it should be a habit.
