Chapter 11
We drove to Ueda's work. I noticed a blue Datsun following. Ueda parked & it parked close by.
Getting out, Maru said relatively loudly
'This will make a good story. Everyone will learn the Aiko was indeed murdered.'
'Not so loud Maru.' Ueda remarked.
'Who is going to hear us?' Maru asked.
'Just don't announce what you found out here.' Ueda answered. We walked towards the door. I glanced back. I didn't stare at it directly but I caught driver of the blue Datsun staring at us from my perphrial vision.
Once inside, we set up for the trap. Ueda went behind his desk. Maru & I sat on the other side. Almost as soon as we sat down, we heard a knock. Them the door opened & three guys walked in.
'Can I help you?'Ueda asked. The first man spoke.
'yeah, you & your friends can come with us. We need to talk.'
'Watanabe, am I right!?' Ueda exclaimed.
'Yeah' Watanabe said & pulled out a gun. ' Now up!'
Maru & I rose slowly then I feigned pain & knelt down. Maru went with me. This distracted Watanabe & his friends enough for Ueda to pull the alarm. The door closed. In panic, Watanabe & Co tried to open the door. Seeing as it was no use, they started to shoot. We all took cover. Ueda behind his desk, I pushed Maru behind a metal shelf. I was afraid we were going to be pinned down, when I saw Ueda sneaking up behind one of the men with his crowbar. I had to keep the shooters distracted, but before I could, something startled Maru & he came from out behind the shelf. The guy pointed the gun at Maru.
'Maru get down!' I yelled. He stood there in shock, I managed to push him out of the way, but I took the bullet. I saw one of the men down. Good Ueda got him. Despite the pain in my side, adrenaline kicked in. I manage to draw fire so Ueda could attack. He got the other one. All that was left was Watanabe. He made an run but we caught up with him. There was no place to run in Ueda's place. I turned in time to see Watanabe getting ready to attack. He pulled out a knife.
'Ueda, move!' I tell. Ueda moved just as Watanabe lunged at him with a knife. Ueda unarmed him & I handcuffed his hands behind his back. Maru came over. We sat in silence. However I noticed that the room was getting fuzzy. I felt faint. I heard Ueda exclaimed
'Kame, you've been shot!'
He caught me as I fell down.
I think I said I'm fine or something, I don't really know because I was losing consciousness. Last thing I heard was Ueda saying ' Stay with me Kame.' then black.
