Chapter 3
I woke up in a strange room. There were strange noises. I couldn't get my bearings.
'Kame,you ok?'It was Maru's voice.
'what happened?' where am I?' I asked.
'The hospital. Someone saw the hit & run.'Maru explained.
'It's really blurry but I do seem to remember being hit by something heavy.' then I remembered my laptop.
'my stuff?' I asked Maru.i moved & it hurt. I'm definitely going to feel that!
' don't worry Kame, I have them! They're in my car right now.'
'Good,I need to go visit the crime scene.' I remarked, trying to get out of the bed.
'The doctor says you have to stay a little longer.'
'I can't. Time is against us.' I protested. Maru grabbed my hand & squeezed it.
'I know but you were hit by a car Kame, & you need your rest.'
He was right,but if someone hit me, I'm pretty sure the case wasn't suicide. However, I couldn't tell if the car was that Datsun or not. Maybe Ueda would have an idea. I couldn't wait.
'Maru,it needs to be done.Yuko asked me to help.'
He sat there lost in thought.
'ok, if that's what you want Kame, I'll see what I can do.' and with that he left. Although I was curious about the case, I started to worry about Maru. Was he safe? He is a reporter but he's not a detective. Yuko, his sister, knows the victim & won't accept the police vertic...A noise interrupted my thoughts.
'well I was able to convince the nurse to discharge you!'
I was thrilled.
'on the condition I watch you Kame.'
'e? But what about your job?
I didn't want Maru to come with me. I didn't want him hurt. I had barely taken the case & was attacked. I worried for Maru.
'i can remote work. You can go to the scene & I'll hang out in the car. I have some reviews I need to edit & post.'
I agreed. What could I say? I needs to see the site & Maru wasn't about to leave me.
' ok let's go!' I answered.
