Scans: Superman Beyond
Superman Beyond: Written by J.T. KRUL; Pencils by HOWARD PORTER
The Beyond universe isn't quite in-continuity; it's a set of digital-only comic books set in the universe of Batman Beyond, in which Bruce is long retired and Terry McGinnis has taken his place. In this future, Kal continues to be Superman, but is usually dealing with a younger set of villains and heroes.
At least until part 6 and 7, which show Bruce coming out of retirement specifically to save Superman.
If I started to make commentary on these scans, I'm afraid I might just collapse in incoherent squee. Batman Beyond (the show) has always ripped at my heart because Bruce is so isolated in it, so these comics, which show him slowly reconnecting with the larger world, fill me with joy. Bruce and Clark as old, old friends is a bittersweet pleasure, and this title is brimful of it--I will try to let the images speak for themselves. Below the cut lies old guys (in weird bulky armor, alas) kicking tail, some hurt/comfort fodder, and Battle Hugging (tm)!
Bruce recommends that Superman stay safe in the Fortress while they work on a solution: "Think you can promise to stay safe in here until then?" To which Superman smiles and says "Could you?" Since then Superman has donned the Eradicator armor and headed back into battle--I'm not sure if Bruce will show up again (there haven't been new issues for almost a month, I am distressed!) but I'm hoping so...
