I'm slowly developing a theory that some writers just do better with older or younger characters, and it's possible Krul was just a very poor fit for Teen Titans, but knows how to rock a mature Superman? And not just age--I think Brad Meltzer was appalling with more minor characters, not caring what long-term damage Identity Crisis did to characters like Zatanna or Sue Dibny, but I liked how he wrote Clark and Bruce in JLA just fine. He also shafted Black Canary as "leader" of the JLA. Hm, this discrepancy might have less to do with major/minor and more to do with who has testicles, now that I'm looking at the list... :P
