Scenes of Outrage #1

Let's start with an old standby: IT IS NOT SEXY OR CUTE OR WHATEVER TO BE STUPID.

Seriously, I don't understand how this trend started, but it needs to die, like now. Pretending to be helpless, ditsy, clueless, and airhead, or whatever is just ridiculous. You are more than a set of boobs placed conveniently above a vagina--there is a -brain- there too, and it's for more than figuring out what color shoes you want. I know damn good and well that our foremothers did not work so damn hard to get votes decades ago and equality more recently just to have some vacant-expressioned nymphet gracing the cover of every women's magazine in existence. It makes me sick.

And on that note, read this.

Holy shit.

What is wrong with the world?

And while we're talking about tits, let's talk about tits. Just because a woman is blessed with major assets does not mean that she is automatically going to show them to you just for shits and giggles. It also does mean that they are suddenly in the public domain, and it's totes cool to stare, prod, 'accidentally' jostle, or go, "Ayuk, what size are them things?!" Well, I don't know Jethro, what size is your fucking head? It's pretty big too.

This brings me to Cosmo. No, don't even sit there and try to tell me it's about girl-empowerment, or I will come through that computer screen and smack you around with a spoon. Grrrrl power does not involve an article every month about "HIS WILDEST FANTASIES EVAR OMG!" Give me a break. And why is it that we have to look at these ridiculously underweight, airbrushed, Photoshopped approximations of women on the cover? Why not give us some eyecandy, and I don't mean random bulging meatheads, either. Here's an idea: Start running monthly articles on how to get a proper bra fit (this does NOT involve anything from Victoria's Secret, that place is a hole), or women's health, or self-defense? Hmmm? Why not?

And as a general wrap-up on this particular segment, girls, go ask questions about sex. A doctor, a nurse, an online forum, somewhere. It is your body, and you have the right to know how and why it works. Curiosity isn't dirty. Sex isn't dirty unless you fuck in the mud, then it is, and your body doesn't have dirty places on it. I don't care what you were told when you were growing up, but that is not the case. You are a little slice of goddess, and don't you ever forget it.

grrrl power, outrage, random, issues, i hate pop culture
