Today I did a bad thing. Or did I?
Actually, I'm not sure I did do a bad thing. I just didn't do a good thing. You see, I was walking to work in the type of post-waking daze that seems to envelop me at that time of the morning, when I heard something clatter onto the ground near me. I looked round and saw that a small metal object had been dropped by a woman who was nearby, and who didn't appear to have noticed she'd dropped anything. I'm not quite sure what the object was; it didn't look like anything important such as keys or anything, but maybe it was an object of great sentimental value to the woman. However, I didn't say anything. I just let the woman carry on walking, leaving her dropped property on the ground behind her.
If I'd have been more alert I'd probably have stopped the woman and told her she'd dropped something. But instead I just carried on walking along, saying nothing. And when I wandered back home later that day passing the same place, the small metal object was no longer on the ground.
I don't think that makes me a bad person, does it? Maybe it does. In the meantime, Mev was unlucky to bring 1p to the table in Deal or No Deal today, since he was one of those players who chose to reject every offer, no matter how good.
