Second crying entry in three days

While I was sat in the local coffee shop this afternoon marking some of my students' tests, there was a group of friends seated around the table directly in front of me. There were three female people and two male people, and they seemed to be having a good time, loudly and profanely discussing the fact that they were going to go an 'smoke some weed' later on that evening, whatever that means. But then, all of a sudden, and with no warning whatsoever, one of the female people at the table became very tearful.

"Hey, stop that!" said one of the male people at the table, before offering to try and cheer her up by "doing something ridiculous". I think he meant that he was going to basically act like a clown in an attempt to try and make her smile, but I wasn't sure that was going to help really. He clearly meant well and was probably feeling a bit uncomfortable about seeing his companion in distress, but I wasn't sure that the thing she really wanted at that point in time was to have a man putting on a silly voice for her amusement.

I never actually managed to catch the reason why the young woman was upset though. But then again, it really wasn't any of my business. I suppose it's possible that she'd suddenly realised that she was missing Deal or No Deal, but surely she'd have done what I did and catch up with it online later. It was a pretty interesting game too, with Skevy coming out of it nine grand better off.
