The wedding reception I sang at this afternoon was fun. The bride was originally from London and the groom was from Sheffield, so there was a mixture of people from both ends of England in attendance. In fact, the first thing I noticed when we arrived was a sign saying 'WELCOME SOUTHERN SHANDIES AND NORTHERN MONKEYS', and when we got inside the place where the reception was taking place we saw lots of posters plastered over the walls displaying slogans such as the following:"The closest a Northerner gets to one of their 5 a day is when they have a bag of cheese & onion crisps!"
...and..."These Southerners are strange. They invited us round for tea recently and they only gave us a brew!"
It was a really fun atmosphere for us to be part of. In fact, it was one of the most enjoyable performances I can remember doing, with pretty much every single guest cheering and clapping us as we finished. That was pretty nice since we'd really only been hired to provide a bit of musical wallpaper.
So, if you ever want to have a great time on a Saturday afternoon, just gatecrash a wedding reception and sing there for an hour or two. You will love it.
