Day Two: Favourite episode? (Part two of 2)
See here for
Part one of day 2, and
Day One Season Five: The End (Writer Ben Edlund; Director Steve Boyum)
While the whole Au is a thing of brilliance - and also thigh holster, two Deans, hoarding toilet papers, Cas having orgies, Rhonda Hurley's panties, and the extraordinary scene between Dean and Samifer - it also had two amazing brother scenes.
From:
Dean: We're not stronger when we're together, Sam. I think we're weaker. Because whatever we have between us -- love, family, whatever it is - they are always gonna use it against us. And you know that.
To
Dean: The point is... maybe we are each others Achilles Heel. Maybe they'll find a way to use us against each other, I don't know... I just know we're all we've got. More than that, we keep each other human.
Plus the commentary track with Kripke and Edlund is one of the funniest ever.
Season Six: The French Mistake ((Writer Ben Edlund; Director Charles Beeson)
If any one episode sums up the Show's relationship with fandom (and there are a few contenders!) it's this one. Because its an episode that couldn't be done without the Show knowing how much we know about the Show, and trusting that they could do an episode this audacious without everything just disappearing up its own arse. Add in Misha actually tweetting, while onscreen Misha is as … well it’s a perfect storm of meta!
Season Seven: Slash Fiction (Writer Robbie Thompson; Director John Showalter)
Two each of Sam and Dean, as well as homages to some of my favourite movies. Dean singing all out of love, "Dead plants with creamy goo. It's like eating self-righteousness."(actually a Sera Gamble line according to Robbie), Nobody puts baby in a corner!, Jody and Bobby! And then the boys break up - again.
Season Eight: Sacrifice (Writer Jeremy Carver; Director Phillip Sgriccia)
Its all about Sam and Crowley in the church, Crowley's HBO monologue, and the two final scenes between Sam and Dean where the boys commit to each other in a church AND THE ABSOLUTELY EPICNESS OF THE BOYS IN THE MUD NEXT TO THE IMPALA.
The angels. They'd falling.
