Work's still going strong. Today the kids had a half day because we had another comprehensive reading strategies training. On Thursday I'll be away from the classroom all week because of a preschool program coordinators training day. One day back and it feels like I never left. Well, it had only been four days, but still. Now that it looks like we´ll finally have matching weather, we´re starting on our Spring-unit. I´ve already done quite few flower-crafts, but there will be more. It´s only three and a half week until May break and before that we need to finish a Mother´s Day ( Read more... )

In the bus on my way to work... it felt rather early this morning. Too early for Minoes in fact, I couldn't get her to wake up. Not even for her cat feeds.

But... it's no longer as pitch-black outside as it was before Spring Break. It's rather nice to have a bit of light.

In bed a little later than I intended after having spend more than two and a half hour uploading photos to the school's website. (Amongst other things, I also maintain the website) I can do stuff in between, but still, it's not how I want to spend my evening.
And the worst thing is: I'm not even half-way done.

I teach at a relatively small school in the center of the city. The school is located in a bit of a downtrodden part of Utrecht. It´s not the worst part, but it definitely has issues. A lot of the kids come from low-income families and there are quite a few problems with violence, liquor and substance abuse and vandalism ( Read more... )
