Today as we ran errands, Quinn was having his usual cute friendly conversations with myself and Jason.
"Mama! I want to have my own house. Teressa [his pre-k friend] will be the mom, I will be the dad, and we will have two kids."
I reply, "That sounds nice, Quinn! Jason, where will you live?"
Jason stops and his little lips begin to quiver. He doesn't say anything, but his eyes start to tear up. I ask what is wrong and he says,
"Mama! I don't want to leave the family! I don't want to leave the house and be alone. I want to stay with you! Don't make me leave!"
And then a little tear rolls down his cheek and he looks completely dejected. I reassured him that we would always be family and he could stay at my house as long as he needed. We had a very long hug and he eventually said he felt better.
Meanwhile, Quinn watched the entire interaction unaffected, and trotted off to play.
