Why do I do this to myself?

 As is usual, I haven't updated in ages but now that I'm supposed to be working on term papers due tomorrow morning I seem to have a bizarre urge to write ANYTHING BUT THE THINGS I DESPERATELY NEED TO BE WORKING ON. My health has been utterly awful this quarter thus my professors giving me extensions to write my term papers but either my ( Read more... )

If you need something to watch (ha, clearly you don't ;P), I really want someone to watch Shiki because it looks like something I might really like, but also looks like something that might be way too violent for me, so, uh... I need someone to watch it and tell me ^.~

Or, any of the following because I need someone to discuss them with: Kuroshitsuji (my current obsession!); Durarara!!; Toradora!; Natsume Yuujinchou. Or, if you want something that's not actually good, and yet somehow bizarrely addictive, Code Geass. It's the best bad anime ever. The main character's a noodle.

(Oh. Not a real noodle. I just mean that he takes lanky anime boy to an extreme.)

...I'm procrastinating on a paper, too ^.^;;;;

Well I think it's pretty obvious I don't need more ways to waste my time, however I always seem to go looking for ways in which to waste it anyway, so your suggestions are appreciated. They may end up being resented later though, fair warning.

I've actually been meaning to give Kuroshitsuji a try for a while now, so as soon as I get a free moment I'll try to check it out. I haven't heard of the others, but I'll look them up to see if they seem like my sort of thing.

I can second the Black Butler suggestion. The beginning is cracktastic and not great, but it gets really good.

I'm in loveloveLOVE with Kuroshitsuji (and am even in the process of sewing a cosplay from it), but I also can state that, while subjectively I adore it, it is not objectively-speaking the best anime ever. But I don't care. So much love!! I got Sarah started on it this week, too--I think she's enjoying it, but not as in love as I am. Oh, and don't bother with the second season: so bad.

Durarara!!: Decently philosophical; mixes mythology with urban Tokyo very nicely; amazing cast of power-seiyuu (looking at the cast was how I initially picked it up, in fact); first half is much better than second half, but second half is still worth watching for Mamoru Miyano's ability to be aaaaamazing.

Toradora!: School-yard romance that initially seemed like a better-version-of-nothing-special to me, but grew on me a ton. I super recommended this one to Sarah, because it reminds me of Special A, only better. Also: only school-yard romcom to ever make me cry when people got rejected by their love interests.

Natsume Yuujinchou: Incredibly ( ... )

No, I refuse to watch anything non-English speaking with you ever again. I definitely did not go to your apartment today and watch 4 episodes of Coffee Prince and love it. I definitely do not want to know what shipping happens, and what hijinks will ensue. I definitely don't find Han Gyul and Han Sung incredibly attractive.

Also, I'll never watch Toradora. And I would certainly not like to watch it with you specifically, because school-yard is a genre we clearly hate.

...Maybe it's just that I've been listening to the Toradora! soundtrack on repeat, but the more I think about it, the more I really liked that series. In fact, I suspect that the only reason I didn't love it was that it took me so long to get into it; I think that if I rewatched it, already knowing and loving the characters, I'd enjoy the first handful of episodes much more than I did and would go from liking to loving it.

...Which makes me want to be really mean and say that I want you guys to wait and watch it with me this summer, but I won't do that, because that would be mean and scheduling is always hard. But I do really wish I could watch with you, so you'll have to give me the blow-by-blow of your thoughts on it! One of the best things is the way the characters surprise you. All three, in fact, of the sub-main characters (although not the two main-main characters) ended up not being quite the archetypes I had initially pegged them as ( ... )
