R.I.P. RUFUS

My poor car Rufus crapped out on me on the way home. The transmission needs to be rebuilt again. The last time we did that, it cost half of what we bought the damn car for, so my parents rushing to buy me a newer car.

They visited a guy they know who sells used cars, and for two seconds I almost had a BEEMER.
They saw a white 2003 BMW 330i for 9 grand, not including the amount they'd get off for the trade-in value Rufus.
Only, my parents have this stupid quality of being practical. And they actually took the car to a mechanic who advised them not to buy it. Any normal mechanic would have told them to buy it so they could rake in the dough each time the car needed maintenance, but no. My parents have the ONLY honest mechanic in the universe. He warned them that BMWs have iffy electrical systems and cost a ridiculous amount to maintain.

And BAM! No more Beemer for me.

Of course, they told me all this AFTER they came back from the lot, which left me in the position of not being able to beg or plead to get the car.

Friggin' parents.

They sent me up to the car lot on my own to have a look since they were working today, and I test drove a nice Chrysler Sebring. If we get it, this will be the first American car my parents will have bought in close to 30 years. Shows how desperate we are to get a replacement.

We'll have to see. We're going back on Monday, I think so that I can get a car and get back up to DFW before I get fired from my job =[

The optimist part of me is hoping I can sweet talk my parents into getting that BMW anyway, but the realist is saying I'll be driving the Sebring back to Denton.
