The first Vegan Monday

Vegan monday went well. Breakfast was no different from usual - I have soya milk anyway, so was just cereal and soya milk. This meal is easy for me. alii_cat makes me a cup of tea in the morning, but as he was sleeping i thought i would miss this, and would be grumpy all day from not having tea. I was pondering about taking some soya milk somehow, when he woke up and made me one just in time!

Then at mid-morning break I quite fancied a digestive, but the ones we have at work have milk powder or something in, and there were some chocolates too, but obviously these were out. I ate a pear. Not quite as satisfying, but much healthier, and tbh, the wanting of the biscuit dissipated once I was no longer looking at it!

Lunch was harder. I am not very good at lunches anyway. I made a houmous and tomato sandwich and it turns out our bread is vegan. I was carefully reading all the ingredients and just coming to the conclusion it was when I saw an icon on it saying "suitable for vegetarians and vegans". Just before lunch I was thinking (cue Kevin and Perry grunting and stomping), "my lunch is boring, i don't want it, stupid vegan lunch". I know this is just cause i wasn't very well prepared for it and I felt there were no fun things in there. The cake i was going to take looked past it's best (significantly past), and i didn't have any yoghurt or anything. It was just sandwich, orange, blood orange, apple, 2 clemntines (which were too dry and yuck to eat it turned out) and some dried fruit and nuts. Not overly inspiring.

I fancied a tea later, but was thinking I would have a black coffee instead and then i don't know what happened but I forgot all about it and didn't have either!

There were some left overs from last night that we could have had for dinner, but it had quorn in so wasn't vegan (everything else about it was). So I made a carrot, chilli and ginger soup, with lentils. It was very nice. Had it with bread.

I fancied a square of the fudge alii_cat got me for xmas, but as it is "dairy" fudge that was also out. But once again, very quickly forgotten about after I didn't eat it.

So, successful! I just need to get more organised on lunches!
