I can has collar!

I finished the collar on the 1850s coat this afternoon:



(No, I didn't use the bight green thread on it! That was for a different project).

Not sure how I feel about this one. The black velvet trim feels a bit too "reenactor" rather than "original garment" to me. I'm planning on trimming the rest of the coat with this black velvet, as well as some black velvet trim that's a bit wider. I think if I really pushed myself, I could have it done by next weekend for the reenactment (and even sooner than that if I didn't want to trim it). Although, the weather is starting to get nicer, and I don't know if I want to wear a wool coat with a quilted lining in May!

See, this is the problem with me and sewing - I wait too long for a project, and I either lost interest, or the weather changes and I won't be able to wear it again until next year.
