Hey guys, just wanted to do a quick update thanking all of you for your ROCKING new year's wishes in my last post, thank you! And also to let you guys know about the two hospital appointments I had on Wednesday. Now, the audiologist appointment requires a little back of explanation in that I've had hearing difficulties for a long time. Apparentally I was born with slightly underdeveloped ear canals, which meant I had a bit of hearing loss but didn't present a problem until I was around 8 years old, when I was having difficulty hearing speech and narrowly missed getting hit by a car while crossing the street. So, I got tested and they found I had hearing loss of around 90% in one ear, LOL, as well as a condition called tinnitus. Thankfully by then a medication had been invented with opened up my ear canals and thus allowed me to hear at pretty much normal levels. The audiologist appointment this week was just a check up and it was found that my hearing is still normal now, except for high frequencies signalling loss of about 5%. And of course I still have the tinnitus and that will probably never go away, but you know, I'm really just thankful I can hear at all.

The dermatologist appointment, on the other hand, was a bit more interesting. I've had cystic acne over my back, shoulders, chest and somewhat on my face since I was 10 or 11, but this is the first time I've seen a specialist about it. The very nice dermo has now prescribed me with: Bactrim, an oral antibiotic for the enxt three months; Differen adapelene gel for my face; a special liquid solution of 2% salicylic acid and 2% sulfur for my back and recommended I speak to my doctor about going on the pill in the long term as a last resort. Now, just to be clear what lengths I've gone to to treat this acne, I must have seen 3 different doctors before this, been prescribed 4 different kinds of medication, and been given Differen twice, so it was nice to get a doctor who actually scheduled me a follow up. This sulfur stuff, BTW, is sitting on the desk next to me and looks very scary, LMAO. It's got a shelf life of three weeks and you have to use gloves when applying it D: Anyway, bottom line is there that I have a follow-up in ten weeks time to see how it's all working and I should see a 30% improvement within a month, soooo we'll see how it all goes.

Finally, a random note: I really need to start eating more healthily, so feeling all new years resolution-y I signed up to SparkPeople which is a really good health and weight management website with a lot of good advice. I'm not aiming to lose any weight since I'm at a healthy weight for my height (65kg/175-ish cm, fact fans), but I really need to start eating a little better this year so I'm on there. On that note, if you are planning to lose weight this year there's this great little comm, unplump, that's just been started up for that purpose. ;D
