Heyyy. First up, the main course of courses, HAPPY NEW YEAR, YOU CRAZY KIDS! May 2008 be exactly like 2007 for some of you and nothing like it for the rest. Now go switch your calendars over and reprogram your phones and blah blah blah. I'll wait. And thank you in advance to everyone wishing me a happy new year in their posts, bless ya'z. My New Years was spent with my mum and my brother on the couch with possibly cheap champagne and a bowl of Pringles watching the fireworks off the Harbour Bridge up in Sydney, as we usually do. (On a different channel was the Melbourne fireworks but we have a distinct lack of decent bridge-like landmarks here, which means it's just fireworks off a barge on the Yarra accompanied by Crown Casino's piddly little fireball display). We then followed that by making cynical comments at all the music videos that were played. Hopefully some of you guys had actual parties (beckzzz? you seem like a party person) and did things far more exciting than that.
So, in other random news, my parents set up the $3k widescreen TV today. It looks like something that belongs at NASA, or maybe in a cave during a dystopian future for the evil dictator to make announcements to the masses. It's huge. I mean, we get all the new HD channels and stuff, but the real fun part is that it costs $3000. My two years of TAFE are going to cost exactly...$3000. Bringing this up though cause my dad to scream at me to get a job, because he has this thing where apparentally me being 18 means I should be entirely self-sufficient depsite my lack of employment as of yet. Does anyone else have that? It's just so ridiculous, as is the heat, but sitting here with a fan listening to the National and reading yuletide fic? Helps. I mean, it'd help more if yuletide authors and NYRs were up, but hey, it's only 3am in the US right now. I think I just need some ice coffee.
Anyway, so! I just wanted to pimp out my Yuletide recs, which are over here on my del.ici.ous account and also on universe_says. I'll probably be writing a rare fandom fic or two in the next few days so I'll alert you to those when thery exist. However, I also have to start work again on my Nano novel since it's still probably around 35,000 words away from being finished (it's at 45k-ish post a few edits right now). With some work on it this month I hope to add around 20k and tackle the ending in February. Annnnnd final thing, tomorrow I have two hospital appointments - one with a hearing specialist and one with a dermatologist, and I'll let you know what they. Who'd've thought summer would be so busy eh? At least it's fun.
