Space Empires is easily the best galactic conquest game I have ever played. It's part of a genre of games called 4X Games where success requires the player to explore the galaxy, expand their economy, exploit their resources, and exterminate the competition. It took me about two hours today to overhaul all 81 planets in my game of Space Empires, and during the readjustment my research score took a massive hit.
